The article “Backlashgrows over release of detained illegal immigrants” by Stephen Dinan is about whether
are not it would cause more to detain immigrants or to release them. The releasing
immigrants are being supervised, either through electronic device or by a
check-in requirement. Reps. Hunter and Salmon feel that this method is more expensive
to pay to track the released immigrants. Conversely ICE Director John Morton
says, “It actually ends up being cheaper when people are in detention because
they move much more quickly.” Whether or not releasing immigrants is cheaper
for the budget it is still questionable. We have to keep in mind that by releasing
the immigrants we are actually putting things at risk. The budget of financing
a way to track the immigrants released and the life of people at risk if an
immigrant released decides to go MIA. Some people say that no one changes
whether that is true are not these are criminals and tend to what they are
feeling in that moment so if they decide to get revenge on someone they hold responsible
for their incarceration. If detaining them until they are deported saves money
and possible life’s there is no need releasing them and spending money and
there is a better solution that is cheaper. I don’t see why anyone would want
to spend more money are create a bigger hassle
for themselves so if keeping the prisoners detained is better than releasing them
we shouldn’t even think twice about what to do.

The article “Korean war part 2?” by choe sang-hun is about
North Korea’s plan to nullify the armistice they have had for 60 years. The tension
on the Korean peninsula is not new even since World War II this country has
been battling for power over the entry peninsula. North Korea being an isolated,
poor, and totalitarian country seems to still have animosity toward people of
South Korea a democracy and more wealthy country. The young North Korean ruler
Kim Jong Un seems to be desperate, with his country’s economy deteriorating and
more death due to starvation this leader now wants to put his country back on
the map. Revealing that they now have a nuclear bomb, the missile is aimed
toward the US but most like with not hit the main land of the US but instead
hit the South Korea and with over 28.000 American troops still stationed there. This
animosity between south and North Korea seems to be because of North Korea’s jealousy
toward South Korea in the south they have almost double the amount of things
the north has and the north feels that it is unfair for the south to be happy
and the people of the north living in despair. So maybe Kim Jung Un plan is to
defeat the south along with their allies and put the north on top and be able
to rule the Korean peninsula or maybe he’s just trying to keep his people under
the influence that he is a great leader and protecting them from invades.

The article “time for a raise?” by Patricia Smith is about
Obamas plan to raise the minimum wage from $7.25 to $9. A person that now makes
$7.25 an hour would be making $9 an hour giving them more money with every hour
they work and making the long hours they work worth it. This raise can be good
as much as it can be bad. The upside of raising the minimum wage could be that low
income families could make more money and it can make a big difference. This
could also be good for the economy because the more money people make the more
they will spend which could mean stores hiring more people to work and the employment
rate will raise and more taxes will be paid. People would also now be able to
afford what they need to survive on a monthly check now that’s it will be more.
People would not have to struggle and worry. As much as it could be good for many
families it can also affect those families with businesses. Business owners would
be the predominant people that would get affected by this; this would mean that
they would have to pay more which means they would not have less income due to
the bigger pay check they would have to write. It could also cause some
companies to let go of workers. Whatever decision is made it will affect some
in a bad way but it will also affect some in a good way.

Cheater
Limp pacing and countless shots
A couple’s therapist imparts to a cheating wife
Childhood friends now
As spouses, they live in Washington
A minister she admonishes her daughter
Easy prey for seductions
But even prayer can’t save her from a cruel heavy-handed lesson.
I chose to write
my poem from an article on Tyler Perry’s new movie “Temptation: Confessions of
a Marriage Counselor” because it seem to have caught everyone’s attention and
it seem to be a very interesting. My poem points out the main problem for a
therapist wife who turns to cheating after her husband seem to be forgetting
about her. She ignores the warnings of
her mother and then her relationship with her new found lover seems to go all
wrong. After I found this article it was pretty easy to write my poem finding
the meaning or deep words and phrases to tell a short story. To me it was
definitely worth writing a poem from the article because I could go deeper than
the movie using words.

The article “slaughter of the African Elephants” by Samantha Strindberg and Fiona Maisels is about the amount of elephants that are being killed for their ivory and how close these spices are to being extinct. Throughout African the number of wild elephants are decreasing and decreasing. Elephants are being killed and striped of their tusk that holds ivory which is used for various amount of things like carving statues. But the poachers are not the only reason why elephants are decreasing in number. Habitats’ being destroyed has contributed in the shortage on forest elephants, but the predominant reason is of poachers. The more poaching takes place the less elephants have to reproduce the spices line which is also taking a tole on the Eco system. The greed of man has surpassed men and is moving on to the animals of the wild. The animals we need to keep the Eco system in order. It is obvious that the poaching of these elephants is caused by the want for ivory from people over the world. If people just find another way to do things by going around the use of ivory the poaching will decrease allowing elephants to increase. The thought of earths precious animals are being killed to satisfy the greed of the human population is obscene and people would not want that to happen to the human race so we should be considerate of earth’s animals and fight to keep their spices alive not kill them and be the cause of yet another spices of animals gone extinct.

The article "South Dakota Law to Allow
Teachers to Be Armed" by the AP is about the governor of
South Dakota signing a bill that allows teachers and school personals to be
armed with guns. The bill was said to be passed with 40-19 votes and has been controversial
seen been signed. Many support the governor’s decision for allowing teachers
and school personals to be armed saying that it will prevent any tragedies from
happening like to one in Connecticut. Bill sponsor Scott Craig said, “Rural
districts do not have the money to hire full-time officers, so they are interested
in arming teachers or volunteers.” The fact that the school district cannot
hire a well-trained officer to protect the school they have to make sure that
the children in the school district are protected and parents can feel good
that their children are save because they will be protected. Even though this bill
has many supporters there are people that think signing this bill can be unsafe
because the thought of the fire arm falling into the wrong arms has surfaced
and people think that it is only a way in danger students that attend theses
schools or provide possible intruders with a weapon. If
passing this bill helps the school district save money and has the safety of the students and school
staff in consideration why not do it, if teachers know how to handle the weapon,
use the weapon with care and place the weapon in a safe place that it is hard to be seen passing this bill is a
good idea.

The article “sisters in arms” by James Dao is about the US military
now allowing women in combat. The role of a woman in the army was most y known
as a care taker but now women are saying that they can be much more that care
for wounded men on coming combat. They can handle the difficulties that come
with being on the battle field. Women were prevented from being apart combat
primarily because the US military feared that women would have the strength
needed while in action or if women would be able to pull the trigger when the
time comes. Throughout the wars that have taken place from 2001 women have made up about 12
percent of them, these women have left their families, their babies and
partners fight for their country and it would not be fear that they are not
taken seriously or seen as incapable of
doing what they may want to do. The US military not allowing women in combat is
like telling them take they don’t have what it take to get on the battle field and
fight like man can it’s like telling them there are not good enough. Women are
in charge of their own strength and know there their capabilities so if they
think they can handle what comes being in combat there is no way the US military
can tell them no they can’t. The women in the army has put themselves in harm’s
way to help a fellow soldier and proven themselves over and over that they can indeed
do what a man can and that’s why they have now decided to allow women in combat.

The article "cyberwar" by Patrica Smith is about the
cyber war America is having against Iran. Iran has reportedly hacked the US's computers
that contain information about oil the US is getting in Saudi Arabia. With
this going on the US is in fear that hackers will access technology operated vehicles
and cause the US sources of transportation to trash creating a disaster no one wants
to see. The US also fears hackers getting into banks and disrupting the finical
accounts. As a way to get back at Iran's cyber invaders the US had hackers of their own hack Iran’s
nuclear plant and erases any information that might help them to get a nuclear weapon.
Cyber expert Martin Libicki says, “cyberwar is not a replacement for
conventional war, it’s a weapon added to the arsenal.” The US may be worries
about hackers hacking transportation and banks but what about the their own
private computers that may hole strategies on war and weapons. The US may or
may not have many protection of their own but if these hackers are any good
what do they think it will take foreign hackers to get in and get information
that could be used to bring down the US. We may not even know when we are being hacked it
may come as an infected email or and ad or even by downloading a file. Many
times you get emails from people I don’t even know and in situations like these
the best thing to do right there and then is to delete it because if you click
on it it can be the opening the virus needs to get into your computer.

The article “is football just too dangerous” is about the
debate on if football is safe or not. Buzz Bissinger argues against football
stating how dangerous it is. She makes the point that football can cause chronic
traumatic encephalopathy (CTF) which is caused by having too many concussions
which frequently happens to football players from being hit in the head too hard
often. She also supports her argument by stating that even a professional
football player’s father would be “very hesitant” if given the chance to make
the decision of his son playing football because of the dangers. Conversely
Scott Hallendeck says that all sports have a high risk of someone getting a concussion.
He makes his point that coaches are being trained now to teach football in
safer ways. He also says that “the rate of concussion in girls ice hockey is
nearly double that of football” saying that compare to some other sports
football is less prone to concussion that those with rates up to 21 percent. If
we think any sports we play we are vulnerable to can get a concussion from, so
in think that all we can do is make sure that the child will be taken care of
if the situation occurs. Knowing a lot of young boys that play football I know
that it is a great way to get exercise and feel a part of something so I don’t think the best thing is to stop deny
your child of playing football because he might receive a concussion it is all
part of growing up and playing a sport.

The article “historically incorrect canoodling” by Stephanie Coontz is about how people today have more privilege in having a relationship today than people before the 1800s. Years ago religious believes had a great impact on relationships soldiers could not marry and have a have because it was taught to make them weak and they would not fight as well with worrying about family. Also men and women were only put together for repopulation purposes, no pleasure was to be sought for it or it would be consider a sin. Bu the invention of Valentine’s Day to day have given us a special day to celebrate the love we have for on another to and show our love so that everyone and see. For a roman priest it was not that easy, he began marrying soldiers and was executed for his refusal to follow the law, and then the church declared February 14 St. Valentine’s feast day but not for the reason to encourage love but to replace a holiday that allowed boys to draw names of girls from a jar that they would be with for a year. People today have turned the original reason for celebrating St. Valentine’s death to honoring the cause of his execution LOVE. Today generation have turned St. valentines feast to Valentine’s Day a day to celebrate love and happiness between two people. On this day love is given and love is received some people use Valentines Day to visit loves ones far away and some people use it to ask the person that love to spend the rest of their lives together.

The article "a tattoo to remember" by Jodi
Rudoren is about Eli Sagir, a young girl who decided to get the same tattoo
her grandfather got during the holocaust from Nazis at Auschwitz. Eli
Sagir decided to get the tattoo to remember what her grandfather went
through and to remember her grandfather’s survival of the holocaust. Sagir
stated, “I want to tell them my grandfather’s story and the holocaust story.”
Sagir’s grandfather, Diamant, is among the handful of children and
grandchildren of Auschwitz who are survivors of the holocaust. Sagir
makes a point that her generation knows nothing about the holocaust, states
that, “all my generation knows is nothing about the holocaust.” Eli's wish to
inform her generation about the holocaust simply comes from the fact that she appreciates
what her grandfather and others like him went through and knows that it only created
a better life for them. Though Sagir’s tattoo symbolizes love and appreciation she
has received criticism for having it, some claiming that it’s just a way to
hold on the past. Sagir remembers a comment that a cashier made saying that,
“you’re trying to be him and take his suffering,” she also recalls a police
saying, “god created forgetfulness so we can forget.” For those people
you don’t really get the significance of Eli getting the tattoo they seem to
just think it’s a scar and it’s just a way to carry on the holocaust but
for Eli it’s a way to make sure that the
holocaust will never happen again.

The article “The new face of America” by Veronica Majerol is about how the minority population in America is now becoming a majority in the United States of America. The United States is known for being populated with mainly withes but what Veronica is saying is that is now changing. Throughout the United States the minority is now increasing and becoming a larger population. From 1950 to 2011 non-whites have increased from 11% to 39% with Hispanics being 17% of the non-white population, which is a higher percentage than African Americans in the United States. The population of Hispanics has rapidly been changing and increasing over the years and is leaving the republicans to reason their position on immigration. About 12.5 million Hispanics were voters in the November re-election with 71 percent voting for Obama. It is estimated that by 2030 the eligibility of Hispanic voters could rise from 24 million to 40 million. “Hispanics are going to have more to say” says Frey. Most people of the Hispanic or the Latino race either immigrate to the United States at a young age or was born in a Hispanic or Latino family. Whether or not someone is a citizen by birth or by naturalization no one should feel like an out sider in the country they live in and have lives in. at the same time the world is only expanding and more people are having kid so the race percentage in the United States will increase and more people are coming to the U.S. looking for a better life.

The article “all work and no play: why your kids are more
anxious, depressed” by Esther Entin is about how today children play time is
declining continually. It is also a concern that kid’s development is being
affected by not having enough play time. Children’s play time have been noted
to be declining from 1981, kids are now spending more time in school, doing
school work and in the house. Esther makes a point that the parents, when
growing up, spend more time outside playing with friends but now there kids
spend less time playing and more time in the house. Esther also makes the point
that parents can also be a reason that their kids do not spends more time
playing having fun, worrying about their child’s safety parents keep their
children insight as much as they can. While
a child is developing they learn to several things to help them throughout life
such as making decisions, solving problems, learn self-control, and following
rules. Play time can help developing children learn these things which will help them in life. A child
learning to make decisions can help them become more independent and strong and
be able to make health decisions that make deciding what they want to do in
life easier. Let’s put the statics of play time down for now, a child should be
a child and play around because soon they are going to grow up and will have to
get jobs and take care a family and will have to put the childish things away.

The article “Give Lance another chance?” by CNN is about weather
are not lance Armstrong should get a second chance for lining to people and
using drugs to help him win the cycling races. People have been debating if he
should be forgive and get a second or what he did was on forgivable and he does
not deserve a second chance. Many of his fans who look to him for inspiration do
believe that he deserves a second chance
to prove that he is truly sorry and to make right what he has done wrong. Frida
Ghitis stated, “Armstrong still has a second chance to redeem himself.” For those
to who where fans but now feels lied to and hurt by the lies Lance told say he
does deserve a second chance and should not get one. Roxanne Jones states, “No,
he gets no second chance from me. There are too many ways to question his
apology.” Some people think it’s just a
front for him to get out of paying back large amount of money to sponsors he
defrauded. Lance Armstrong’s may are may not be sincere, but the fact is that
he has done something terrible wrong and people are upset with the lies he told
and his decision to keep it going for over a decade. Even though he has touched
hearts and is an icon for hope and a source of inspiration his motive was wrong
and his choice to use drugs in making his dreams come true was wrong and it
will take some time for people to
forgive him.

The article "Civil War in Syria Raises Questions About When to Intervene" by Ja'anai Delaney is about the civil war that is going on in Syria and the US's concern on whether they should intervene or not. The article states that 2.5 million people have been affected by the war whether it’s being forced out of their home or have no food or medicine. According to Hillary Clinton the US Secretary, the US will not get involved unless the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad uses chemical weapons, she states, “a lot of people are trying to figure out what could be an effective intervention that wouldn’t cause more death and suffering.” The US’s involvement in the Syrian war cannot only be dangerous for the citizens of the US but also for Syrians. It can possible start a war which no one wants it would only take lives and cause money so maybe the US should not get involved in the Syrian’s civil war but I do believe they should keep a close eye on the war in case it gets out of control and the citizens of Syria do the help from the US. If it is mandatory that the US does need to get involved it would need to be carefully planed and thought about both long term and short term and hoe it will affect the country emotionally and financially.
