The article "Attention Disorder or Not, Pills to Help
in School" by Alan Schwarz is about doctors prescribing A.D.H.D pills to
help children without A.D.H.D. who are failing in schools. The pills have been
known to help them focus in school and are able to get more or done. Dr.
Anderson states that the infirmity is "made up" and is "an
excuse" for low grades which is what he says is the real problem for
children. The medication have been known to have been used in low-income
elementary schools given to student with failing grades and the students’
parents are happy to give their kids the pills. "My kids don't want to
take it, but I told them, these are your grades when you're taking it,
this is when you don't, and they understand." Ms. Williams said. According
to the Centers of Control and Prevention "Americans ages 4 to 17 were
judged to have A.D.H.D. in 2007, or about 5.4 million children." Quintn is
one of many children diagnosis with A.D.H.D., he was given Adderall to
take for his diagnostic and when he was asked why he was given Adderall he says
"to help me focus on my school work, My homework, listening to mom and
dad, and not doing what I used to do to my teachers, to make them mad." In
my opinion I think that children diagnose with A.D.H.D. take these pills and
when parents see how good the children are acting they keep them on the pill
even after the symptoms are gone. I have a family member that was diagnosis
with A.D.H.D. and he took no pills and out grew his symptoms and is now living
a normal life. I think the parents should let their kids grow out A.D.H.D. and
not run to the doctors for pills.

The article "Cancer Center Plans For Cures" from CBS news radio is about medical experts how says that they have found a way to reduce deaths from eight different kinds of cancer. The President of the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston said that the program is set to launch in February of 2013. The program aims to hurry along the prevention and treatment efforts, It is considered by the hospital as its largest initiative to eliminate eight forms of cancer. Six teams were chosen to tackle the eight cancers.
Each team has specific goals, ranging from basic research to clinical trials that test treatments, biomarkers and diagnostics. The teams will focus on personalizing treatment according to an individual’s tumor genes. “In this moon shot effort, we’re fashioning our programs in a way that
enables us to ensure these discoveries make an impact,” said DePinho, MD Anderson Cancer Center president. The cancers that the program intends to target include acute myeloid leukemia and myelodysplastic syndrome, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, melanoma, lung cancer, prostate cancer, triple-negative breast and ovarian cancers. I think that the fact that they have gone off the planet earth to find a treatment for cancer is saying how dangerous and deadly cancer is but experts are tiring everything in there power to end if not prevent cancer. I also think people are tired of love ones dieing of such a horrible disease and if there is a possible way to prevent it i think society should be open to it.

The article "texting may be taking a toll" by Katie Hafner is about the effect texting may be haveing on teenagers. Dr. Martin Joffe, a pediatrician. recently surveyed students at two high schools and said he found that many were routinely sending hundreds of texts every day. Texting have found to cause health issues in a teenager's bodies. Texting late at night can cause sleeping issues were a teen's body is not getting enough sleep. Textxing can also be taking a tool on teen's thumbs, because of the fast and excessive texting this can cause pain and cramping in the thumbs. Peter W. Johnson a professor, says "it's too too early to tell whether this kind of stress is damaging but based on our experiences with computer users we have some reason to be concerned that too much texting can cause temporary or permanent damage to the thumbs." My personal opinion of texting is that if you know how to control how much and how late you text it will be ok for you to text bu if you do it excessively and have no control you should most likely take a break from texting. In my life i have limits to what i do so texting late at night for me is out of the question because I like my sleep and i know that lack of sleep can hurt the body. so once you know when to take a pause to texting and how often you should text i don't see a problem with texting but if you do it to the point were it is affecting your health you should considered yourself as having a problem with texting and get help.
